PRAISE REPORT
We have an opportunity to purchase ten mobile home units for $5,000. This will give us enough housing for 20 or more students. We are in the process of trying to either purchase a mobile home park or finding a suitable parcel of land where we could establish a mobile home park. We would prefer to stay here in the south Florida area, but we are willing to go wherever the Lord leads.
DID YOU MISS IT?
The enemy did every thing he could to minimize the effectiveness of our Spring Banquet. We had to cancel the original date of May 13th due to a fire at the country club, the day before it was scheduled. We also had to cancel our media presentation because Dick’s lap top computer crashed two days before the re-scheduled banquet date. In spite of all of that, we had a wonderful banquet. We were able to recognize the contributions made by our many volunteers as we shared what great things God is doing through this ministry, both in and out of prison. Thanks to all who contributed in any way to make this banquet a success.
PREVENTION
Many children come from homes that were impacted by violence. Divorce, alcohol, drugs and sexual issues plague many lives and families. Often the abused become abusers. From early ages, patterns of behavior problems are working to develop tomorrow’s criminal offenders. The great tragedy is that once innocent lives are being permanently changed. In today’s world, families are under attack! The issues of alcohol and drug abuse are all too common in many of our neighborhoods. The Media has dulled our senses and has glorified fast living and immoral behavior. The most shocking results are sexual crimes and addictions. Society is being impacted in ways we can’t imagine. In today’s sex-saturated society our young people are being bombarded with wrong messages designed to trap them into activities that lead to addictions. The music industry sends a message to our youth that drugs and sex is “Where it’s at!” Hollywood reinforces these messages through the mediums of movies and TV. We see the innocence of our children when they are four, five and six years old, but ten years from now far too many of them will not be innocent. We need to spare parents the heartbreak of finding their child is using drugs, has contracted a sexually transmitted disease, or their daughter is pregnant. One of the ways we try to combat this is by serving as active members of “Substance Abuse Coalitions” in Palm Beach and Okeechobee Counties.
