The Harvest
I received an e-mail telling about a 16-year-old girl who up until recently was a strong Christian, but now is in total rebellion against her parents, and in danger of becoming a ward of the state. It was shared with me how she had gotten involved with a young man who displays multiple personalities, whose hobbies include studies on the Gothic and vampirism. That he likes to wear trench coats and brags about having multi sex partners. I was told how after having an affair with this young man that this young girl had a total personality change and now screams at her parents, and says she hates them. I was told how her mother is afraid she will bolt and run or attempt suicide, because the girl seems so distraught.
It is time that the church wake up and see what the devil is doing to our children. He attracts them with his music, and then his subjects take these young girls and makes sex kittens out of them. Before long they become preoccupied with all kinds of sexual perversions and using drugs. It could be said that the drugs cause them to have these personality changes, even develop multiple personalities, but I believe it goes even deeper than this. After 30 years of working with recovering addicts and ex-offenders, my wife and I have gleaned much experience with those who live on the dark side. I believe that what often happens is that these young people become sexually intimate with Satan worshippers and become one flesh with them. See 1 Corinthians 6:16. The demonic spirits knowing their legal right enter into the unsuspecting partner. When this happens the only solution is exorcism. No amount of counseling is going to make any difference. They must receive deliverance ministry by those who are experienced with these types of situations.
On another aspect of the spiritual warfare we are involved in: I read a newspaper article on 5/28/99 about the high school graduation services at Northern High School in Calvert County Maryland. This article told how one non-believer almost stopped a student initiated prayer; even got the student to “compromise” and change her prayer to a time of reflection. But, the 4,000 attendees defiantly repeated the Lord’s Prayer. All the American Civil Liberties Union could do was to offer a weak protest about how this one dissenter’s rights had been violated. Who could they sue?
The church has for too long been passive when our rights for freedom of worship have been threatened. We let one unbeliever take the Bible and prayer out of our schools, and we have been retreating ever since. Praise God for some people with some backbone. Praise God for those in Calvert County, Md. who wouldn’t let themselves be denied their rights under the first amendment. It’s time for the Body of Christ to become militant. It’s time that we took back what the enemy has stolen from us.
I love the church I attend. It is one of the most on fire churches I know. I love my pastor, and his burden for the lost. His vision for outreach in the local community, and his vision for worldwide outreach. In a recent service he spoke about how pastors want their people to put down roots in the church they are attending and learn to “bloom where they are planted”. I believe the problem isn’t so much with people wanting to be “church hoppers”, as it is they are confused and disillusioned. They aren’t afraid of the word commitment; they just don’t know what to commit to. They are willing to bloom if we will just tell them how to bloom. They need to be taught on how to have a vision for ministry, and then receive training so they can be equipped to do the ministry. We have people in our church who have been studying the Word for years, and all we have to offer them is another Bible study. They don’t need another Bible study. What they need is a study that will show them (1) How to get a vision for ministry. (2) How to prepare for ministry. (3) How to do ministry.
Are there any ministry fields out there? Let me list just a few. High Schools; Colleges; Armed Forces; Prisons. I’m sure you could list many more. It isn’t that the fields aren’t white for harvest. It’s that there aren’t enough harvesters. It’s time that our spiritual leaders began doing what God has called them to do; equip the church to do the ministry of an evangelist. It’s time we raised up a mighty army to take the battle to the enemy and recapture our youth.
